For the Courses to Experience Traditional Chinese Culture
(中国传统文化体验课程招生简章)
(International Cultural Exchange School of Qufu Normal University)
1.
Recruitment objects:
Foreigners who take interest in the
traditional Chinese culture, including wushu, qigong,
calligraphy, Confucianism and Chinese language.
2.
Time for study:
All the year round for the courses,
begun by the month as the unit (No start of the courses
in Feb.). To open school on the 10th per
month, graduation on the 9th of the next
month. Participants may go to the classes any time by
personal level. Team entry (over 6 people) may set the
learning class and time at will. On graduation,
participants may be granted certificates of the Courses
to Experience the Traditional Chinese Culture by Qufu
Teachers University.
3.
Standing courses:
●
Wushu series:
tai chi course, changquan(Long
fist:all kinds of boxing) boxing course,
Southern(nanquan) boxing course, kickboxing(sanda)
course, wushu apparatus course, tai chi qigong fan
course, tai chi sword course. Teacher: Wang Junfa.
●
health series:
Baduanjin(Eight excellent movements course,)
WuQinXi(Prolics of Five-animal exercise course,
Yijinjing(tondon changing classic) course,
LiuZiJue(6-character rhyme) course. Teacher: Wang Junfa.
●
Calligraphy series:
Calligraphy ABC, Standard calligraphy
course, Running script course, Calligraphy study.
Teachers: Zhang Aimin, Chen Jian.
●
Classical reading series:
Lunyu study, Mencius study, Zhuangzi study, Sunzi
Warcraft study. Teacher: Chen Dong.
●
Practical Chinese series:
Pinyin ABC, Chinese Character ABC, Practical sentence
patterns Situation conversation. Teachers: Tang Xuening,
Hong Bo.
For the applicants of team entry
(over 6 people), new course series may be added by
needs, for instance: tai chi kungfu fan, tai chi sword,
apparatus wushu and traditional Chinese painting etc.
4. Course
time arrangement:
From Monday to Friday per month.
Saturday and Sunday for sight-seeing at one’s own
expense. The course days are as follows, all for your
own free choice of presence.

Chinese kungfu sites:
Mount Liang, Mount Song,
Shaolin Temple, Longmen Grottoes, Han mausoleum on Mount
Yunlong, Baoxiang Temple, Dai Temple, Lingyan Temple,
Hometown of Wu Song.

Chinese calligraphy:
Exhibition Hall of Han and
Wei Dynasties Tablets, Stone sculpture of Wu’s tombs,
Stone sculptures on Mount Tieshan, Cliff sculptures on
Mount Yishan, Shijingyu Valley on Mount Tai, Hometown of
Wang Xizhi.
6. Tuition
(settled by RMB)
The tuition is collected by your
actual chosen courses. The fees of the teaching
materials and apparatus are handed in by the actual fee.
Weekend tours are charged by the offers of the local
travel agency. Registration fee: 80 Yuan (once and for
all). Lecture fees: 60 Yuan per class hour for wushu or
qigong series; 50 Yuan per class hour for calligraphy or
classical reading series; 30 Yuan per class hour for
Chinese language ABC series.
7. Board
and lodging fees (settled by RMB)
Lodging:
Overseas university student dorms. 25 Yuan per person
per day for a double room; 50 Yuan per person per day
for a single room. Board: varsity student
dining-rooms, about 15 Yuan per person per day.

9. How to
come to our university:
To join Courses to Experience the
Traditional Chinese Culture, you may come to China with
tourist entry visa (L) or with visiting visa (F). If you
need our invitation to apply for the tourist entry visa
(L) or visiting visa (F), please contact our university
30 days ahead of schedule.
Those via Yanzhou Railway Station or
Qufu Railway Station to Qufu campus; or those via Rizhao
Railway Station or Rizhao Port to Rizhao campus are met
by our personnel with cars sent by our school for free.
Those via Jinan Airport to Qufu campus; or those (over 5
people) via Qingdao Airport or Qingdao Port to Rizhao
campus (over 5 people) are met at the airport or port
for free. Those via Beijing, Shanghai or wherever else
to China can be met at the airport by our cars, but the
fee is paid by you.
10. Course
contents:
(1)Wushu
series: tai chi course,
Northern boxing course, Southern boxing course,
kickboxing course, wushu apparatus course, tai chi fan
course, tai chi sword course.

Those with wushu ABC or
ahead-of-contest training.

Teaching contents:
Mainly of the wushu basic acts;
ahead-of-contest training based on the strengthening of
the skill training.
●
Class hour arrangement:
Each set of course is 60 class hours,
3 class hours per day.

Teaching materials:
Basic Wushu Course, etc.
ahead-of-contest training is arranged by related
requirements.
●
Teaching approaches:
Green-hands are chiefly taught by
separate acts. Those with better skills are taught by
complete teaching methodology.
●
Teaching sites:
Special wushu hall with carpets.
(2)health
qigong series: Baduanjin
course, five-animal exercise course, yijinjing course,
6-character rhyme course.
●
Selective condition:
Those with wushu ABC or
ahead-of-contest training.
●
Teaching contents:
Mainly of the wushu basic acts;
ahead-of-contest training based on the strengthening of
the skill training.
●
Class hour arrangement:
Each set of course is 60 class hours, 3 class hours per
day.
●
Teaching materials:
Basic Wushu Course, etc. ahead-of-contest training is
arranged by related requirements.
●
Teaching approaches:
Green-hands are chiefly taught by
separate acts. Those with better skills are taught by
complete teaching methodology.
●
Teaching sites:
Special qigong hall with carpets.
(3)Calligraphy
series: Calligraphy ABC,
Standard calligraphy course, running script course,
calligraphy study.
●
Selective condition:
Those who know certain Chinese
characters.
●
Teaching contents:
Calligraphy ABC chiefly deals with
the basic knowledge of the introduction and practice of
the tracing in black ink over characters printed in red
and simulation of the Chinese characters. Standard
calligraphy course deals with chiefly the basic skill
practice and appreciation of the standard calligraphy
model works. Running script course deals with chiefly
the basic skill practice and appreciation of the running
script model works. Calligraphy study deals with chiefly
the guidance and appreciation of the tablet models and
calligraphy models.

Class hour arrangement:
Each set of course is 60 class hours,
3 class hours per day; or 2 class hours per day, each
course 40 class hours.
●
Teaching materials:
Writing brushes, Chinese ink, paper; Yan Zhenqing
Standard Calligraphy Course; Wang Xizhi Running Script
Course, etc.
●
Teaching approaches:
Teaching in Chinese with some translation, with
recitation sentence by sentence by way of the Chinese
pinyin (sound).
●
Teaching sites:
Classroom special for teaching
calligraphy.
(4)Classical
reading series: Lunyu
study, Mencius study, Zhuangzi study, Sunzi Warcraft
study.
●
Selective condition:
Those with relative reading levels of
Chinese, who take interest in classical China.
●
Teaching contents:
During the study of Lunyu, the common
sense of archaic Chinese works is learned; in Mencius
study, to deepen the understanding of the Chinese
Confucian ideology; in Zhuangzi study, to deepen the
understanding of the Chinese Taoist ideological culture;
in Sunzi Warcraft study , to deepen the understanding of
the Chinese warcraft thought and culture.

Class hour arrangement:
Each set of course is 60 class hours, 3 class hours per
day.
●
Teaching materials:
Using the originals of Lunyu reading,
Mencius reading, Zhuangzi reading, Sunzi Warcraft
reading.
●
Teaching approaches:
Teaching in Chinese with some
translation, with recitation sentence by sentence by way
of the Chinese pinyin (sound).
●
Teaching sites:
Ordinary classrooms.
(5)Practical
Chinese series: Pinyin
ABC, Chinese character ABC, practical sentence patterns,
situation conversation.
●
Selective condition:
Zero start point of the Chinese
level.
●
Teaching contents:
Pinyin system deals with the study
putonghua pronunciation of all the sounds and intonation
with timely correction of your pronunciation. Chinese
character ABC deals with the study of how to write
Chinese words regularly and correctly, with basic
reading skills. Practical sentence patterns deals with
the common Chinese sentence patterns used popularly in
daily life. Situation conversation deals with the
conversation used in daily life, tour, work and
business, etc.

Class hour arrangement:
Each set of course is 40 class hours,
2 class hours per day.
●
Teaching materials:
Chinese pinyin ABC, Chinese character
ABC, practical sentence patterns, situation
conversation.
●
Teaching approaches:
Teaching in Chinese with some
translation.
●
Teaching sites:
Ordinary classroom or multimedia
phonetic classroom.
11.
Introduction to our wushu teacher:
Wang Junfa, male, was born in 1957,
graduated from Wushu Dept. of Shanghai Athletic
Institute in 1982. In 1985, he was vice-president of
Jining Athletic School, Shandong Province, transferred
to Qufu Normal University in 1988. Now he’s professor of
the Athletic School of Qufu Normal University. His
titles include postgraduate advisor of wushu major,
director of the wushu international popularization
division of the International Cultural Exchange School,
state-level wushu judge (thrice of the chief judge of
international wushu contests), chief judge of the
national wushu contest 9 times, Grade-one coach of the
national health qigong. His social part-time jobs
include: vice-secretary in chief of Wushu Association of
the Institution of Higher Learning in Shandong Province,
member of Wushu Association Scientific and Research
Institute of Shandong Province, director of the Minority
Athletic Association of Shandong Province.
Prof Wang Junfa has won lots of
prizes in the national wushu contests. In 1979, he was
the 1st placer in the national traditional
wushu contest. In 1985, he was the 1st placer
in the Minority Athletic Association of Shandong
Province; in 1998, he took part in the 7th
International Wushu Contest held in Italy and got two
gold medals; in 2004, he acted as the coach of Shandong
Wushu Team, and led the team to join the 1st
World Traditional Wushu Festival held in Zhengzhou,
Henan Province, with 6 golds, 8 silvers and 4 coppers.
Prof Wang Junfa has been to foreign
countries lots of times to teach and made great
contributions to the overseas exchange of wushu. In
1985, he was invited to Japan by Japan Friendship
Association to teach and coach wushu there. From
1993—1995, he was sent by China Culture Ministry to
Mauritius to work as a wushu expert; in 1998 he went to
teach wushu in Italy and San Marino; in 1999 he went to
Italy again to teach wushu; from 2001 to 2002, he went
to teach wushu in Saint Petersburg of Russia; in 2005 he
was sent to Sri Lanka to teach wushu by the
International Wushu Union of the Chinese Wushu Academy.
In 2007, Prof Wang Junfa was invited
to act as director of the wushu contest division of 15
th Asian Games, in charge of the preparation of
the contests of the 15 th Asian Games for 9
months. He is the No 1 to prepare for the Asian Games in
Chinese wushu circle.
In 2008 Prof Wang Junfa acted as
deputy director of the wushu contest division for the
Beijing Olympic Committee, in charge of the wushu events
for the committee. He was widely acclaimed by the
International Wushu Union, Asian Wushu Union, and China
Wushu Academy. On the morning of Jan. 14, 2009, he was
rated as excellent and praised on the 2008 summary
conference held in the Olympic Center.
After Beijing Olympics, Prof Wang
Junfa was sent to Mauritius and England by Chinese
health Qigong Association to teach there and aroused a
craze to learn Chinese wushu. In Mauritius, he was met
by the president of Mauritius, his wife, the premier,
the athletic minister of Mauritius National Youth
Athletic Division and the Chinese ambassador in
Mauritius. He won the highest honor as a cultural envoy.
On Dec. 22, 2008, the Chinese health qigong management
center of the National Athletic Bureau held a conference
in Beijing to commend those who won remarkable results
for the popularization of wushu, health qigong, among
whom Prof Wang Junfa is the “Advanced Individual for the
National Wushu, health Qigong”.
For many years, Prof Wang Junfa is
devoted to the theoretical research of sports and wushu,
with the publication of nearly 60 academic theses in
some authoritative sports journals and national key
journals. In order to join and hold international
contests and promote wushu internalization in teaching
as the tendency, Wang self-studied English, Russian,
Japanese, etc. A 300 thousand-word book of his was
published named Wushu Bilingual Course, thus filled up
the blank of the same kind of teaching materials in our
national traditional athletics.
